After Apple, Disney Bans Selfie Sticks At Its Parks

In a recent news, the selfie sticks were banned to be used by Disney in its parks across the United States. Though, the sticks were not allowed to be carried on the rides but now the visitors would not be allowed to take the sticks inside the park as well. The visitors can use the lockers at the park’s entrances to keep their sticks secure. The ban was brought into effect beginning Tuesday, June 30, 2015 whereas the parks in Paris and Hong Kong will follow the guidelines beginning Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson from Disney who talked to BBC, these handheld extension poles have become a growing safety concern for both the guests and the cast at the parks.

This is another incidence of selfie sticks being banned. Previously, Apple banned the gadget to be used in the Worldwide Developer Conference held earlier this month. Besides this, the stick has already been banned by All England Lawn Tennis and few football clubs.

Selfie stick is surely a helpful gadget that helps you take a wide picture of yourself without taking help from someone else. But at times due to the excitement and hurry of clicking a picture, the users may harm themselves or someone else around them. This is the reason why safety concerns are being raised about use of selfie sticks at crowded public places.
